Biel, Switzerland
Save the date: October 31 - November 2 2008
This year's
BerZuBa venue
is located near Biel in Prêles, Switzerland,
a village 400m up on the North side of the lake of Biel.
We have rented an entire house with room for maximum 60
Hashers! It has multiple-bed rooms and space for tents.
Rooms will not be
assigned, they'll be designated (for example, snoring, non-snoring,
harriette only, etc.)
If coming from the north, follow the A1 to the A5 (at the Luterbach intersection), following the signs to Biel/Bienne & Solothurn. Stay on the A5 to exit 28 and follow the BLUE signs for Neuchatel. After about 11 kms you will be driving with the lake on your left, still following direction Neuchatel. In the town of Twann, turn right following the WHITE sign for Preles. It is a very windy, uphill road but at each possible intersection the signs read Preles. Once you enter Preles, there is a small triangular intersection - look for large hash marks in the middle of the road and signs/balloons marking the way.
If coming from the east, follow the A1 to the A6, direction Biel/Bienne. The A6 ends in Biel/Bienne, but continue straight on this road, following signs for Neuchatel. After 2-3 kms, you will be driving with the lake on your left, still following direction Neuchatel. In the town of Twann, turn right following the WHITE sign for Preles. It is a very windy, uphill road but at each possible intersection the signs read Preles. Once you enter Preles, there is a small triangular intersection - look for large hash marks in the middle of the road and signs/balloons marking the way.
If coming from the south, follow the A1/A9 to the A5 direction Neuchatel and later direction Biel. When the A5 ends, follow the signs to La Neuveville, exiting the road there and looking for signs to Preles (sorry, we did not check these directions very well as there was a wine fest with a parade going on in the town which blocked the road for hours).
Hint: you can drag the map to move it around, click the +/- buttons to zoom in/out.
If you arrive in the area before 8 p.m. (20:00), then you should look at schedules to take you all the way to Preles, using public transportation. Go to sbb.ch and plug in your starting point and Preles as your destination and you will see how to get there. It is all very do-able with no hills to get up (the last form of transportation is a funicular which starts in Ligerz and goes to Preles).
If you arrive later, you will be met at the Twann train station. So get there and NO FARTHER.

Check out who came...
Sorry, the event's over now!
Bedding: the venue provides a mattress cover, a pillow with cover and a scratchy wool blanket. Mismanagement recommends bringing a sleeping bag or duvet/comforter.
Costume: Friday is Halloween - bring a costume for the costume party! Saturday's theme is Zombie Ball.
Other things to bring: A flashlight (torch), a towel, money for the wine tasting (if you want to buy any wine), pain relievers (for your hangovers), house shoes to wear indoors!
Tentative itinerary for BerZuBaYard 2008
Friday night: Registration opens at 17:00, followed by beer...
The evening's run and circle will be hared and dominated by the
Diva Hash,
followed by the world renowned BerZuBa Halloween Party!
Prizes will be given for best and worst costumes.
Saturday: Breakfast is from 9:00 to 10:00, or something like that.
The
first and possibly only BerZuBaYard Run starts at 10:30ish.
There will be a
Walker's and a Runner's Trail and the Trail will include lunch, beer stops,
and a stop at a wine-tasting centre, with local wines to be sucked down and
savoured!
Trail should finish before the fall of the Sun (we hope!) when
the area becomes
infested with alcoholic vampires, followed by the world's
only circle from Hell.
After dinner, the party continues, and this time
there'll be a surprise
to inspire even the most tired FRB to stay up late!
Make sure you're there!
Sunday: Breakfast is from 9-10:00, or something like that.
Hangover Run
starts at 11:00ish. After the circle and lunch,
pack up your stuff and find
a nice, moist spot to bury yourself...
...until next year!
